FUNCTIONAL
ROLE
The HVAC Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and managing the
installation of HVAC systems on commercial and industrial projects. This role
ensures that installations are completed on time, within budget, and to the
highest quality and safety standards. The HVAC Superintendent coordinates
closely with the Project Manager, leading a team of HVAC installers and
ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
ESSENTIAL
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Crew Coordination: Define and schedule crews
for HVAC installation projects. Adjusts manpower to meet job demands, ensuring
productivity while maintaining or improving budget targets.
Standards of Quality: Develops, communicates, and
ensures adherence to quality standards specific to HVAC installations for all
assigned projects. Monitors installation work to meet quality and industry
standards.
Project Success: Takes responsibility for the
successful completion of HVAC installation projects, ensuring targets for
safety, timelines, quality, and costs are met. Coordinates with field crews to
stay aligned with these goals.
Quality Control: Implements and oversees HVAC
quality control measures, ensuring that installations meet the company’s
standards and customer expectations.
Leadership Support: Provides active support to HVAC
install crews in all phases of the installation, including problem-solving,
planning, and resource allocation.
Project Planning: Collaborates with install
crew to develop detailed installation plans, including labor, tools, materials,
and safety protocols. Ensures the plan stays within budget and safety
standards.
Documentation Management: Ensures all required job
site documentation for project is completed accurately and promptly.
Material Coordination: Ensures key HVAC materials
are on-site when needed.
Plan Reviews: Assists install team in
reviewing HVAC plans, identifying potential installation challenges, and
finding value engineering opportunities to enhance efficiency.
Equipment Management: Monitors HVAC equipment
availability, usage, and maintenance needs. Coordinates with install team to
purchase necessary tools and materials not handled by the project team.
Budget Alignment: Ensures installation activities remain aligned with budget estimates and timelines. Reports any discrepancies or issues to the Director of Operations.
Client Relations: Assists in reviewing
installation progress with client representatives. Ensures billing information
is submitted on time for accurate percentage-of-completion invoicing.
Continuous Improvement: Participates in training and
operational discussions aimed at improving HVAC installation processes and
outcomes. Communicates findings to management for company-wide improvement.
Financial Reporting: Provides necessary
information to support financial processes.
Safety Compliance: Ensures adherence to all
safety policies on HVAC installation sites. Manages accident reports and
compliance with light duties for injured workers.
Post-Project Review: Conducts post-project
reviews with install team, analyzing HVAC installation performance for future
improvements.
On-Site Supervision: Provides on-site supervision
as needed on all installation projects. Directs the work of install team.
SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for supervising, guiding, and evaluating all HVAC installers,
apprentices, and helpers assigned to the project.
REPORTING
RELATIONSHIPS
The HVAC Install Superintendent reports directly to the Director of Operations.
